LEELANAU COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Chocolate lovers rejoice! A new location for Grocer's Daughter Chocolate has opened on M-22 in Empire. It is just north of the M-72 and M-22 intersection on the way to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Store owners said their business has increased by about 40-percent since they moved on June 15. The new store offers new treats and has an open kitchen so visitors can see the chocolate being made. The owners said there are several things that make their chocolate different than others. "We source everything directly from small scale farmers in Ecuador that we go to visit every year," said Jody Hayden, Grocer's Daughter Chocolate co-owner. "In fact two of our staff are leaving to live in Ecuador for three months and so we can tell the story of chocolate in a way that most chocolate businesses can't. Everything that we source in house that we can get locally we do." Grocer's Daughter Chocolate also offers chocolate making classes and holds chocolate tastings twice a week.
